I was an adult when I met Beezus and Ramona and it was a case of instant love on my part. My children enjoyed the books -- but I adored them. And still do! Beverly Cleary went right inside Ramona; she was (at the time) the truest character in all the fiction that I'd read. Few writers have probed their characters as deeply as Beverly Cleary did Ramona. And she did it with a light touch and wonderful humor! Those books are truly amazing.
