The 2000 Jane Addams Children's Book Awards & Honor Books will be presented on Friday afternoon, October 20, in a celebratory event to be held at the Jane Addams Peace Association, 777 United Nations Plaza, in New York City. All interested individuals are welcome at this annual awards event and reception honoring the authors and artists. Plan now to be there!

The Jane Addams Children's Book Awards are given to books published during the previous year which, as well as meeting conventional standards for excellence, most effectively address themes or topics promoting peace, social justice, world community, and/or equality of the sexes and all races.The 2000 award and honor book winners will be announced across the nation on the anniversary of Jane Addams' birth, Wednesday, September 6.
