Henry, Beezus and Ramona

I remember reading the Ramona books when I was eight and nine years old. My dad loved to ice-fish and to give my mom some peace, I used to go along. We would sit in a freezing car while my dad waited for the fish tips to signal a caught fish. I had no interest in this, but I had already realized I could read a book just about anywhere. I clearly remember reading the Ramona books on these ventures.

Imagine my delight when I moved into Ramona's "real" neighborhood in Portland, OR! Now I jog on Klickitat Street, by her church, her elementary school, and her middle school four mornings a week. In the park nearby there are gorgeous statues of Ramona, Henry Huggins and Ribsy. I take all of my out of town guests to see them. What a treat! Now, if I could only buy a house on Kickitat Street (it's a very chi-chi street in NE Portland) all of my Ramona fantasies would come true :)
