Although Ramona is indeed younger than the children who will most likely read about her on their own, she is just the right age for those preschoolers and kindergarteners whose parents are reading aloud to them. And the episodic chapters are just right for one-a?y or one-a-night. Beverly Cleary's books in general (Beezus, Henry, Ralph S. Mouse, and of course Ramona) are the most consistently popular read-alouds I have seen in my library, as judged by the number of parental repeat customers wanting to read "the next one, please."
