I also missed cleary as a child as I was 5 when she started writing and I do not remember reading her but do remember her popularity when I was teaching 30 years ago. I introduced her books to a child care group of school age kids one summer as an after lunch quiet time when we listened to a story that would hold the interest of all the ages represented. The kids were facinated. I may have to pick them up and read them again now that I work in the portion of our university library (Curriculum Lab) which represents a small k library for our education students as well as housing texts and curriculum guides for teachers to be.
