Not knowing exactly what, who, Skellig was did not bother me. I agree with Steven that this was a not only a quiet thoughtful book but also suspenseful. I will go out on my own limb and talk about the book's humor. The attention to Skellig's eating habits I found to be very funny (and gross)and use the Chinese food order as a hook in my book talks. Mina's self-possesion is delightful. I have found student reaction to be mixed. From "why did you give me that book" from a 12 year old girl dripping with disdain . To "that was great do you have anymore like it ?" from an eleven year old boy.
