I hate to admit that I have not read Skellig yet, but I have read Kit's Wilderness. I have not seen any discussion on it yet. There were parts that were very disturbing
(the Death Game), but it was a fascinating book. As a teacher I was also disturbed when they kicked Askew out of school, he was obviously in need of help. It was difficult to understand at times, but it all came together very nicely in the end. I have a number of students who I believe will really enjoy it.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I don't understand the appeal for Skellig.
I've spoken to many adult readers who express their enjoyment of the book, that's wonderful. I really haven't come across anyone under the age of 20 that has read it and liked it. I'm okay with not personally understanding this story, but I'd like to know how the audience the book was written for sees the story.
Every book has a reader, I'm just not convinced this book is for anyone under the age of 30.
