Arthur, I'm thrilled to hear this news! When I first entered the book business in the 80's, this was one of my mentor's favorite books, and watching her enthusiastically recommending it to parents was a crucial part of my training in the art of handselling favorites. We were very sad when it went out of print. Russell Hoban's books can be quirky and rather difficult (though always brilliant), but this is one of his most accessible stories, loved by children and adults, who each get something a little different from it. Were the original illustrations by Quentin Blake? I can't find my old copy, but I remember them being funny and suitable to the story. But David Small's illustrations will be wonderful too. Can't wait to see this classic available again! Thank you Arthur! Once again, you put us in your debt!
