As the new coeditors of the "Journal of Children's Literature," published by the Children's Literature Assembly of NCTE, we'd like to announce a call manuscripts for the Spring 2001 themed issue - "A Multicultural Perspective on Children and Their Literature."

We invite submissions exploring topics and issues related to multicultural children's literature. How are terms like multicultural, multiethnic, or parallel culture defined, and how do such definitions affect our thinking about children and their literature? What isses affect children? Publishers? Librarians? University professors? Classroom teachers? What criteria determine excellence in multicultural literature?

Manuscripts must be postmarked by September 1, 2000. Please submit to:
