Hi,
I haven't posted here before. I generally just lurk because I am "just" a reader. I don't have the credentials of most people who post and I like to read the discussion.
I just wanted to say how much I liked Skellig. I didn't analyse too much "what" he was supposed to be but he definitely parallels the condition of the baby in the hospital. What I liked about this book was the strength of the family. Too many times we read about families falling apart through adversity and I felt that this family pulled together. Yes, they had bad days but they stayed functional. I recommended this book to a friend who home schools because I got a kick out fo the character of Mina and her "anti school" stance.
I loved reading this book. It was written so beautifully I felt uplifted just reading the words. Does that make sense? I am waiting for a copy of Kit's Wilderness to become available at the library.
