I am responding to those who wrote that Skellig does not seem like a children's book. Even some of the comments who love it, seem to doubt whether children will read it. Well, my own 13 year old loved it, which is not to say that other readers will love it, but she is somewhat typical of "good readers" at that age. Other books she loves (that are reminescent a bit of Skellig, though very different as well) Francesca Lia Block's books, Owl in Love, Amelia Atwater-Rhodes's books, Silver Kiss, Blood and Chocolate, Speak. Some of these books are more sophisticated than others, but avid readers will gulp down these mysterious, tantalizing stories, and Skellig is one of the best. I hope I have said what I mean, e-mail sometimes gets out of hand for me. Leslie Jacobs/
