Sharon,
I will crawl out there on the limb with you. Since I am retired and do not work with children, I am wondering what the appeal is also. It is certainly not a book I would recommend for anyone - of any age. Granted, the book is different, and interesting in a strange sort of way, but personally I like something a little more uplifting. Skellig, as a spiritual sort of vagrant (with wings), grossed me out with his eating habits - and there seemed to be a lot of emphasis on what he ate! Did I miss the significance of that? I thought I must just be
"out of it" - and glad.
