When I think of Anthony Borwne -- I think edgy, innovative and inspirational. The Tunnel and Voices in the Park are my particular favourites. I adore how Browne in Voices uses different fonts to visually enhance the characters' different voice in the story; how each character's view of the park is so different
-we could almost be in four different picture books! and how much we learn about each character through their diverse reactions to the park and to each other as well. I love the sly artistic references that fill Browne's work -- and that he shares with us in book after book -- references to Magritte and Dali, for example. And those gorillas!!! Wonderful stuff. He's also a first-rate writer as well as illustrator.
