We'd like to invite those of you who will be at the American Library Assn. conference in Chicago in July, to the following presentation:

COLLECTIONS OF CHILDREN'S BOOKS FOR ADULT RESEARCH DISCUSSION GROUP

Foreign Correspondent to the Past: Researching the Lives of Famous Children's Authors

Biographer Angelica Carpenter describes research techniques for her three books for young people: Frances Hodgson Burnett: Beyond the Secret Garden; L. Frank Baum: Royal Historian of Oz; and Robert Louis Stevenson: Finding Treasure Island (all from Lerner Publications). She will discuss primary and secondary sources, visiting relevant sites, organizing information, and the ways in which Internet access has changed research techniques. Examples will focus especially on L. Frank Baum as part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the book, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
