Even if you don't plan to attend the ALA conference, it's possible to attend one or more of the book awards events scheduled during the annual conference of the American Library Association to be held in Chicago. Each of these events is distinctive and exciting.

1) The Michael Printz and Margaret Edwards Awards for young adult literature will be given during a noon luncheon event on Saturday, July 8. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

2) The Mildred Batchelder Award will be given during the ALSC membership meeting beginning Saturday at 11:00am. No tickets necessary, but name badges signifying registration must be worn.

3) The Pura Belpre Awards event will be held on Sunday afternoon, 2-4pm. All are welcome. No tickets or pre-registration necessary.

4) The annual Newbery?ldecott Awards Banquet will take place on Sunday evening, July 9. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

5) The annual Coretta Scott King Awards Breakfast will take place on Tuesday morning, July 11. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
