GEOGRAPHIES OF IDENTITY: Each June the CCBC serves as a campus resource for teachers interested in exploring various South East Asian topics. This year the workshop theme is "Geographies of Identity: Shaping Curriculum about Southeast Asia," to be held June 12, on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. Elementary and secondary classroom and ESL teachers, curriculum coordinators and library media specialists will spend four and a half days with subject specialists and using campus resources. Cultural arts will be emphasized. as well as foods. Workshop coordinator Peggy Choy is a highly respected dance instructor on campus, as well as experienced in working with teachers and others needing accurate cultural information about Southeast Asian themes and topics. DE-MYSTIFYING SCIENCE: On Tuesday, June 13, Kathleen Horning will be one of the speakers at a workshop titled "De-Mystifying Science: Using Dreama, Literature, and Nature," a new UW-Madison School of Education for teachers and others, especially for educators working in grades K-2. OUTSTANDING NEW BOOKS FOR CHILDREN & YOUNG ADULTS: On Tuesday, June 13, in Fennimore, Wisconsin, Ginny Moore Kruse will present an annual workshop for school library media specialists, teachers, and public librarians in southwest Wisconsin. All of the books in CCBC Choices 2000 will be available for hands-on examination and reading. This particular presentation will be on Tuesday, June 20, 7:30 - 9:30 a.m. in the Pyle Center on Langdon Street, UW-Madison campus.
