New Award: ALA/ALSC Robert F. Sibert Informational Book Award

There's a new award on the block. The ALSC/Robert F. Sibert Informational Book Award is intended to honor the author whose work of nonfiction has made a significant contriubtion to the field of children's literature.
Information books are defined as those written and illustrated to present, organize, and interpret doumentable factual material for children. (Poetry and traditional literature are not eligible).
The first award will be presented at the ALSC membership meeting at the Midwinter Conference in Washington, D.C.
The 2001 Sibert Committee welcomes suggestions from the ALSC membership. Please send suggestions to Susan Faust, Sibert Committee Chair, via e-mail at SanFranSue at aol.com.
