Board Books

I have enjoyed reading the many suggestions for board books; future gift recipients will benefit from my new list. One book I bought for my nephew many years ago, and subsequently for my daughter (who is now almost 25 years old), was _I am a Bunny_, by Richard Scarry. It may not fall into the distinguished category, but it was beloved. It was once a very large book, but its size has been reduced in the past ten or fifteen years (it is still available). I started reading the book to my baby as soon as she came home from the hospital. She and I didn't know the book was too detailed for her eyes, or that she would have preferred black and white. She stared at the pages intently and pleased her mother and daddy with her response. Perhaps this reinforces the statements that the parents' enthusiasm is as important as the book itself.
