I had to smile when I read Susan Greenburg's delight at discovering Sandra Boynton. My children are 22 and 25 and these books were not written until they were in their teens. The highlight of their Christmases lately has been which Boynton book will show up in their stocking next. They recite them from memory to each other! Children go through a stage where they are embarrassed to be seen enjoying picture books because it won't be "cool." It is a pleasure to see that when you get past that stage, you can enjoy them once again. I am seeing a resurgence of the use of picture books with older students (5th grade and up) in schools to teach a wide variety of concepts, and it is a refreshing trend.
