I have been content to lurk, but you have mentioned several favorites of mine already--Greenfield's NATHANIEL TALKING and Fleischman's JOYFUL NOISE. I wanted to mention two additional favorites. Sharon Bell Mathis' RED DOG BLUE FLY: FOOTBALL POEMS which I have used to booktalk to 3rd or 4th graders. It is a great attention getter and for reluctant readers. I recommend Langston Hughes' THE DREAM KEEPER..when I am on the information desk and a child needs a book report book in the poetry section. The one illustrated by Brian Pinkney makes a lovely setting for Hughes's poems. Barbara Spears, Spauldings Branch, Prince George's County Memorial Library System
