Barbara Elleman sent me a message yesterday containing the sad news that Jean Karl died.
At the CCBC we've been thinking so hard about making the special CCBC resources by and about Ellen Raskin more visible. As many of you know, Jean was Ellen's picture book editor. As someone wrote not long ago in a message about Jean's illness, she edited E. L. Konigsburg's books, and many many others, as well. Jean also loved to edit science fiction, and she wrote for children in that genre herself.
There's so much more to be said about this wonderful woman who was such an expert editor at Atheneum and champion of internationalism, among many other aspects of the children's book world. And it will be said.
