This year we have been really enjoying _ Little Dog Poems_ by Kristine O'Connell George.(Clarion 1999) Perfect small poems some humorous, some exciting, some quiet which perfectly describe the joys and frustrations of having a pet.

We read it and then the children ages 7 through 9 write their own pet poems.


Sonya Sones, _Stop Pretending:: What Happened When My Big Sister Went Crazy.
(Harper,1999)
 A moving, touching, eloquent series of poems. We had a book discussion group with 12 year olds felt very strongly about the images, feelings and family dynamics.


This year another dog book has captured us. It's About Dogs by Tony Johnston, Ted Rand, (Harcourt, 2000) 40 short poems, exuberantly illustrated.
