I think that we sometimes get so hung up on the educational value of a certain book or what the reviews or other educators say that we forget what children think. We must remember that their perspective and understanding of literature is very different from ours. Lee's post was a wonderful look inside a student's reaction to poetry. I think that if we take the time to listen to what students like Colin have to say, we will find it much easier to pick effective literature for our classrooms and libraries.
