I was very impressed with the care the publisher took with this book to create the colors of the pages. This is NOT colored paper that was used. If you look "end-on" to the pages it is possible to observe the white paper that these vibrant colors were printed on. The color adds so much to this book. Thank you.
I also like the generational continuity expressed in the book; Garza learned this art form from her grandmother, and is now passing it on to her niece and nephews. When I got an impression of the size of some of these pieces of art, it stunned me. To be able to think so intricately, in such scope, to keep it all together was breathtaking. I encourage others to seek out the companion volume Ginny mentioned and try to cut a simple design. Understanding the process just deepens my appreciation for this book.
