Just 19 more days to visit the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wausau, Wisconsin to view more than 55 original artworks created for the pages of classic children?s books from Australia and America.

Along with the joy of viewing this collection of some of the best in children?s literature, the Museum and the Marathon County Public Library, have teamed up to present 14 weeks of extraordinary programs and events that will increase the appreciation of the authors and the artists represented by this group of books.

Australian author, illustrator and book designer Donna Rawlins (My Place, Tucking Mommy In, Digging to China) will be in Wausau from February 4 through 9. If you are interested in meeting Donna or attending any of the programs planned during her stay in Wisconsin, please contact Sonja Ackerman at the Marathon County Public Library snacker at mcpl.lib.wi.us or call 715&1r22. Visit the website www.downunderoverhere.org to learn more about the exhibition activities and the sponsoring agencies.

The Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum and the Marathon County Public Library were awarded a Model Programs of Cooperation grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Grant funds are being used to support the education components of the exhibition, Down Under & Over Here: Children's Book Illustration from Australia and America. Concepts of diversity, creativity, and multiple points of view will be explored in the galleries, in reading rooms, on stages, through the Internet, and more...all designed to enhance learning and provide quality family experiences.
