I had just talked about the book MONSTER with my 8th graders. I haven't seen it yet but we were reading HARLEM and I told them about what a versatile writer Myers is. I copied Phoebe's information about the creation of the book, etc. I am eager to take it back to them next week and hopefully I can pick up a copy of MONSTER too. I am amazed by his work. Not only is it so varied-poetry, non-fiction, fiction, and now a playformat, but it is so well done. I enjoy his work as an adult, not just as a teacher looking for good literature for my students. There is some excellent information about and by him on the Scholastic site. Look for it under the teacher's section. Students love to know more about writers as real people.
