Announcement: Zora Neale Hurston Award

Author and storyteller Eleanora E. Tate has received the 1999 Zora Neale Hurston Award from the National Association of Black Storytellers. Dr. John Hope Franklin was also named as a recipient.

This highest of the National Black Storytellers' award goes to one or two individuals annually around the country whose lifetime has promoted the oral tradition and African/African American folklore in the tradition of famed writer and anthropologist Zora Neale Hurston.

She received her award during ceremonies at the17th Annual National Black Storytelling Festival and Conference held Nov. 17! in Winston-Salem, NC.
