Greetings from Fresno and a new member of the list. I loved BUD, especially the parts about crying. It was so moving when Bud did, and the treatment of this subject was skillfully handled throughout the book. Also enjoyed the description of the music, but I wonder if kids will enjoy it and understand it as much as I did.
A brief introduction: Arne Nixon was a professor here who donated his personal collection of 22,000 children's books to the library and then left a million dollar endowment in his will to ensure that the collection would continue. I've been on the job for 6 months and am having a ball, enjoying things like this listserve very much.
