Bud, Not Buddy

I thoroughly enjoyed "Bud, Not Buddy" for many of the reasons already enumerated, so I won't repeat them. I did, however, want to take
(small) exception to the following quibble:

Names are terrifically important to children, and for children whose names are a little unusual, either in form, pronunciation, or spelling, it is critical to make this known. I remember insisting on teaching the correct spelling of my name to teachers on the first day of school every year (to the point where my classmates tried to shut me up), and I find myself being corrected constantly by children when I goof on their names. Bud's insistence on the correct form of his name seemed to me to be very honestly kidlike--and a very, very important way for him to continue his connection with his mother.
