Hi! I've now read Joseph to many classes since I am librarian at two elementary schools. I have the good fortune of being able to play guitar and sing so that's how we top off the reading of Joseph. This really enhances the impact of the book, but, even then, the kids gravitate more toward Old Lady. I also agree with the writer who stated that Weslandia had a much bigger impact. I was surprised by the way students embraced that story and adored the illustrations. I heard lots of "wows" and "cools" and "I want to try that; I want to BE him." Imagination was really powered up by that book.
I'm wondering how much impact on intended audience is a factor in the choice of medal winner. Bonnie Withers
