This is my first message, although I've enjoyed the discussions for many months. I'd just like to comment on something about Joseph Had a Little Overcoat that nobody else has mentioned. I read it to just one class, a second grade. Everyone was quite interested in the illustrations, but two boys who hadn't wanted to get any books that day were fascinated by them. They sat together looking at the book very closely after I finished reading, and wanted to check it out so they could show the music teacher and learn the song. Of course, I had to let them take it. They had not shown such interest in any other book all year.
