I watch for this in reading children's books. I noticed it in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, i.e., the African. And I noticed it in Louis Sachar's Holes, but he does identify the other kids by race as well. In what I've read in white authored children's literature more times than not a character is identified as being Black more often than when a character is identified as being white. And in my experience, the author is identified by ethnic group when he/she is non-white as well. Eleanora E. Tate Eleanora E. Tate, Author
