You almost have it, but not quite. Neil Gaiman wrote the comic book series The Sandman (I quoted from it during my Harry Potter rant last month). He doesn't illustrate (although he can do a very nice quick sketch at autographing sessions). He has worked many times with Dave McKean, who did the Sandman covers and several graphic novels with Gaiman, as well as illustrating I SWAPPED MY DAD. Neil's also known for his work on The Books of Magic and Black Orchid, among others. .Neil is the author of the novels NEVERWHERE (also done as a BBC series) STARDUST (get the version illustrated by Charles Vess), and (with Terry Pratchett) GOOD OMENS; the short story collections ANGELS AND REFLECTIONS and SMOKE AND MIRRORS; and a biography of Douglas Adams, DON'T PANIC. He's also written songs for the Flash Girls (a band). His most recent work includes his adaptation of the American screenplay of the movie PRINCESS MONONOKE.
