Ginny asked:
This topic is entirely too tempting to resist!
SPEAK by Laurie Halse Anderson for my 15 year old niece, Marah, who's not much of a reader but who may be captured by that incredible VOICE.
THE FOLK KEEPER by Franny Billingsley for 14 year old friend Chelsea, who loves fantasy.
I'M SORRY, ALMIRA ANN by Jane Kurtz for her 8 year old sister, Liane, who just finished studying the Oregon Trail at school.
Jane Yolen's WIZARD'S HALL, in book and recorded book form, for Stefan, an 11 year old reluctant reader who loved Harry Potter.
I HATE TO GO TO BED by Katie Davis for 3 year old niece Madison, who may or may not have that problem herself :>
MOON SANDWICH MOM by Jennifer Jacobson for 2 year old niece Marla, whose current favorite book is Katie Davis' WHO HOPS, which she received for her birthday from Auntie Toni.
Jeanette Ingold's AIRFIELD for my adult friend Rosie, who is taking it to Switzerland with her, where she teaches Winter Term near an old airfield.
My personal favorites for 1999? THE FOLK KEEPER, SPEAK, and WESLANDIA, one for each of the three big awards!
