I have thoroughly enjoyed reading which books everyone has considered giving friends and family. I added a few books to my "must read" list and smiled with agreement over many. I most enjoyed notices written before Christmas which specified title of the gift and named the child. I hope for the sake of gift surprise these children don't read CCBC-NET! ;)
For virtually every book I give, I reinforce my love and support of children's books by using a gift card decorated with wonderful images from favorite children's books.
Art by Vera Williams, Chris Raschka, Holly Hobbie, Kevin Henkes, Elise Primavera, Lois Ehlert, and dozens more are reproduced on gift cards by a California company, Peaceable Kingdom. They also have cards with images from classic books, such as Curious George and Madeline. More cards are produced by The Friends of the CCBC, who made beautiful cards from the art of Charlotte Zolotow award recipient books Snow, Lucky Song, Pete's A Pizza and Don't Laugh, Joe.
Adding touches like these beautiful cards add to the thoughtful quality of gifts.
