I was glad to see Steve Jenkins TOP OF THE WORLD mentioned. I used this book with a small group of 6th grade students who have special needs. It was great to find a book with subject matter that would interest older kids but have it in this format
(with wonderful torn paper illustrations) that made it easier for the students to read along with me. One of the students came over to the library the next day and checked it out. I was glad because I was not able to read to the group all of the small detailed notes that were spread throughout the book. And anyone with a special interest in Mt. Everest or mountain climbing would truly benefit from reading all of those.
