This is the year of the book for my nieces and nephews, I don't give anything else. For my nephew who is nine- Yikes ! by Janulewicz and Yuck! by Snedden, microphotography at its best. I imagine the Secret Family would be a great YA book. Everything you never wanted to know about things you eat, things you put on your body and chemical interactions within your body. VERY COOL!
Between Owl in Love by Kindl and Song of the Basilisk by McKillip, my two nieces, age 12 and 13 will read and switch within Christmas day, so it doesn't matter who gets which.
Enjoy! There is no better gift than a book, unless of course you own every book already.
