I'm usually just a lurker but can't resist joining in on lists of gift books. Appreciated Ginny's list of favorites! Here are some that I've been recommending to people, in addition to the wonderful ones on Ginny's list. I'm sorry I don't have the publishers or prices as I'm doing this from home.

1. Bark George by Jules Feiffer-ages 2-6
"Bark, George" said George's mother. And George said "Meow". Preschool crowd pleaser with animal sounds, unexpected twists, and witty illustrations by a favorite cartoonist. 2. How Are You Peeling? Foods With Moods by Saxton Freymann and Joost Elffers-great for all ages! But wonderful for the 3-6 year old crowd especially, it's a colorful collection of funny and poignant photographs of fruits and vegetables expressing different emotions. 3. Rabbit Pirates: A Tale of the Spinach Main by Judy Cox, illustrated by Emily Arnold McCully-ages 4-8 Two retired pirates (rabbits) have opened a restaurant in the south of France. Very clever, with a nicely nautical air and lots of French thrown in
(glossary included). 4. Koko-Love! Conversations with a Signing Gorilla by Francine Patterson-ages 6 Incredible story of Koko the gorilla, this visually pleasing book is filled with color photos and fun anecdotes about Koko's life as well as facts about gorillas. 5. Cinderella 2000 by Mavis Jukes-ages 10 Very funny contemporary story of a teenage girl who wants to go to a fabulous new years eve party but has been roped into babysitting for her step-siblings.

Happy reading and happy holidays to all! I enjoy this list so much and find it so helpful. Martha Jackson Book Passage Corte Madera, CA
