I don't recommend Cooper's book. I think it is standard?re, which in the context of books about Native Americans, contains many stereotypes, and a clear bias against Native Americans, in favor of white settlers, missionaries, etc.
The bibliography lists Ann Rinaldi's book about Carlisle Indian Industrial School, which I (among many others) have soundly criticized on many fronts.
You may want to read a review of the Cooper book at the Oyate site, under the Books to Avoid link. (http://www.oyate.org).
