Steve Englefried (sp???? from Bend, OR) pointed out the chance that HP gives us, as librarians, to suggest a plethora of other books. I have next to me a list produced by the children's services department of a local library--two sides of an 8 1/2 x 11 page--of what to read "Waiting for Harry Potter". It also lists Web Sites and may open up some old favorites once again.
Just a question: What is "arbitrary" magic? Magic based on an uniformed opinion? Despotic?
What scares me, though, is the movie rights and knowing the movie industry the franchises, toys, etc., etc. that may flow from HP.
