1) Some of the IBBY REGIONAL CONFERENCE LECTURES given on the UW-Madison campus on Oct. 8-9 HAVE BEEN VIDEOSTREAMED (i.w. webcast) internationally beginning October 11, as has Katherine Paterson's lecture on Oct. 7. To see and hear these fine speeches, visit the CCBC webpage (http://www.education.wisc.edu/ccbc/webcast.htm). The technology and the staff to plan and manage this global outreach were furnished by the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin Madison. One of the people involved in the planning & implementation of the videostreaming is CCBC-Net's good friend Chris Dowling. We thank Chris and everyone else in the School's CIMC and IMDC who made these speeches accessible to all with access to the necessary equipment. Look at the directions before you decide you can't take advantage of this opportunity!

2) ARTIST/AUTHOR YUMI HEO will speak in Room L160 Elvehjem Art Museum on the UW-Madison campus on Wednesday, November 10, 7:00pm. All are welcome at this free public lecture

5) CCBC NOVEMBER BOOK DISCUSSION: If you can come to the CCBC, we encourage you to participate in the November 19th Book Discussion. CCBC monthly book discussions discussions are open to all adults interested in reading and talking with others about new books for children and young teenagers. We discuss about a dozen new books each month in the Elizabeth Burr Room. There is no registration fee or advance registration. Just show up! Books to be discussed are posted on the CCBC webpage (http://www.education.wisc.edu/ccbc/up4disc.htm). Copies of the books to be read are at the CCBC reference desk and may be used in the CCBC or borrowed from the CCBC on an overnight basis. Some participants locate copies in local libraries or bookstores. The monthly book discussions are scheduled between 3:30 - 5:30pm (Central time). This is not a private book club. The discussions are not programs to observe. Everyone participates in the discussion. Although it isn't necessary to have seen or read all of the books on the discussion list in advance, it's expected that participants will be familiar with a minimum of two books on the discussion list. Some participants stay only one hour, because they are interested only in highly visual books (3:30-4:30) or only in novels for older children and young adults (3:30-5:30). If you drive to the CCBC, metered campus parking is available underneath Helen C. White Hall; bring lots of quarters! The municipal Lake St. parking garage is a ten-minute walk from the CCBC. It's always possible to walk, or use a city or campus bus to come to the CCBC.

6) The CCBC staff posts weekly book reviews of new books on the CCBC webpage. Look at the BOOK OF THE WEEK and former Book of the Week REVIEWS (http://www.education.wisc.edu/ccbc/review.htm) We've had difficulties with our server lately, and we're also consumed with the plans for the IBBY regional conference, so if the webpage has not been accessible or this section is not quite up-to?te at this point, we hope you'll understand why.

7) BIOGRAPHY AND AUTOBIOGRAPHY FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS will be the subject of a completely new CCBC Educational Telecommunications course to be held on two Thursdays, Nov. 11 & 18, 4:30-5:50pm (CST).
