I have already heard elementary school librarians expressing concern that the next Harry Potters will be too mature for their students in content and that they may be inappropriate for their collections. I think that is just fine - elementary librarians shouldn't buy them if they aren't appropriate - the kids who are ready for them will get them on their own and enjoy them and those who won't will miss some things until they reread them later on (to borrow a thought from a current thread on childlit listserve).
