Harry Potter Popularity

No matter whether adults like or dislike Harry Potter for whatever reasons, "kids think they're cool," as Steven Engelfried has pointed out.

A few of you have ventured some theories about why the books are so popular. Jonathan Hunt pointed out that Rowling has managed the perfect blend of low comic fantasy and the trappings of high fantasy. Connie Rockman cites the creation of a fantasy world that exists so close to reality. And Roger Sutton pointed out that he thinks the very things he dislikes about the books (frenetic pace, arbitrary magic and banal dialogue) lend to the books' popularity.

We'd like to hear some more from those of you who have listened to what children have to say about the books. What sorts of things are they talking about when it comes to Harry Potter? Let us know!
