What I wrote wasn't meant to be an attack of any sort, and I'm sorry if it came across that way. What I was trying to convey is the seriousness of this issue - and that Perry's rhetoric about hurting children seemed utterly lacking in compassion and kindness. And in truth, what I quoted wasn't my own reaction, but another's -- and what they had to say in full was considerably more inflammatory than what I posted.
Kids matter - hell, people matter. It's not a polite, academic issue, when you consider the very real abuse that happens. That's why some of us get so angry - because we see those kids, because we've been those kids. Ending a cycle of violence, hatred and depression could be the most important thing any of us could ever do...
Anyway, I hope that makes some sense.
