Given that we are discussing books about contemporary Native Americans, I'd like to take the chance to tell CCBCers about a list I put together. It is published by the ERIC Clearinghouse on Elementary and Early Childhood Education. You can get a free copy by calling 1?0X3A35. Ask for "Native Americans: Recommended Books and Resources."

ERIC materials are in the public domain, so you can copy them as needed. You can also download the list from the web. It is at . To get to it, click on Publications, and then on Resource Lists. Then click on "Native Americans: Recommended Books and Resources."

Bruchac's HEART OF A CHIEF is on the print copy. The web site update hasn't been done yet.
