I'm a children's book person from above the 49th and a longtime fan of B. Doyle's - I have an article on his early books, Hey, Dad! and You Can Pick Me Up at Peggy's Cove on-line on the electronic children's literature journal, The Looking Glass at http://erp.utoronto.ca/~easun/looking_glass/ Uncle Ronald is a stunning book and I was present at an event here in Toronto where Doyle read from the opening pages of what-was-soon-to? Uncle Ronald I don't know any other writer who can take us into the most tragic depths of the human soul and then moments later fill us with laughter - and often in sentences of just three or four words!

I'll look forward to seeing what others have to say over the weekend about Brian's books but for those who don't know one - you'll be a fan for life!
