Speaking of departures, I wonder if Paterson has ever thought of or tried to write fantasy. It would seem that she might have an interest in it as evidenced by the following:
mentioned earlier that Paterson used a grail theme in Park's Quest and wondered if it had led, in part, to her retelling of Parzival.
The Mandarin Ducks and The King's Equal retellings of fairy tales and/or legends or are they original works? I haven't read either.
included literary allusions to Narnia in Bridge and Tolkien in Gilly.
