Let me say first I truly admire Tomi Unger's daring. The image that's never left me is an illustration in No Kiss For Mother. The boy cat and his mother are leaving a restaurant. A large cat dressed like Winston Churchill is standing near by. The cat is wearing a Nazi arm band.

Its crucial image because it defines Tomi Unger's basic belief. "You don't have to be a Nazi to be a Fascist." When Unger was a boy his parents had saved a special bottle of wine. They were planning on drinking the wine when France was liberated from Germany. When the Americans drove out the Germans, a group of American soldiers came to the house and took the wine. Unger said later of the incident, "It made me choose a life without boundaries."

I'd like to hear some other thoughts on how this story relates to Tomi Unger's work.
