That's a good point, Mary Ann. Gilly indeed was not in touch with either anger or her feelings of abandonment and that was part of the problem. What I am thinking now is that she knew the feelings that mattered most to her inside and out--like the longing for her mother. It was really the idea of her thinking she knew it all and yet being limited because she was young and inexperienced that I was trying to get at.
