Certainly, Marc, it is valid for a YA novel to leave readers angry, disturbed, and frustrated by the lack of easy answers. Even obligatory, in some cases. But there must be LITERARY closure in the sense of what Bob Cormier calls "that satisfying click" for the piece to work as art. Right? Patty Campbell
